Anthropic Accelerates Infrastructure Construction
Anthropic was founded in 2021 by former employees of OpenAI. Although smaller in scale than OpenAI, the company’s Claude chatbot and its underlying technology have gained recognition among enterprise customers and developers in fields such as finance and healthcare. The company recently raised 13billionatavaluationof183 billion in September and stated that it has 300,000 enterprise customers. Similar to its competitor OpenAI, Anthropic is currently accelerating its infrastructure construction to support the development and wider application of AI technology. Anthropic plans to invest $50 billion in building custom data centers for AI work at multiple locations across the United States, including Texas and New York.
In October, Anthropic also announced a deal with Google, a subsidiary of Alphabet. Google will supply Anthropic with up to 1 million of its dedicated AI chips, in a transaction worth hundreds of billions of dollars, which will significantly enhance the company’s computing power.
Concerns over AI “Circular Financing” Trigger Bubble Fears
However, the announcement of this massive collaboration comes at a time when market skepticism about the AI investment boom has reached its peak. According to a report by Barron’s, the US stock market is experiencing its worst November performance since 2008, and shares of both NVIDIA and Microsoft fell nearly 3% on the day the collaboration was announced. Investors are precisely worried about this “circular financing” model.
Data from Bank of America shows that 45% of fund managers view the AI bubble as the biggest “tail risk” in the market. The structure of this deal is identical to NVIDIA’s previous investment in OpenAI (valued at around $100 billion). This behavior of mutual investment among giants and the idle circulation of capital within the system has raised doubts about whether AI products can generate sufficient actual revenue to justify their massive investments. Nancy Tengler, CEO of Laffer Tengler Investments, said, “The wave of skepticism is higher than it has been in the past few years. Concerns are not limited to the investment competition in the AI field but also include corporate profitability.” On the eve of the release of NVIDIA’s crucial earnings report, this seemingly positive collaboration has instead heightened Wall Street’s concerns about industry overheating and the unsustainability of the “AI closed loop.”
Instrument the end-to-end path
Measure queueing, execution, retries and final user outcome rather than only component health. Traces should make it possible to explain why a request was slow or wrong from the user’s perspective.
Version important configuration
Prompt templates, model routes and data dependencies can change behavior without code changes. Versioning these inputs makes regressions reproducible and rollback safer.
Prefer bounded failure
When dependencies degrade, reduce optional work or return a clear fallback instead of allowing latency and error rates to cascade through the whole system.
Define the production contract
Agree on expected quality, latency, cost and failure behavior before optimizing components. A service can look efficient in isolation while violating the user-facing objective.
Fallback and rejection behavior should be explicit so edge cases do not improvise at runtime.
Make state ownership explicit
Models, caches, queues and databases often hold overlapping representations. Each durable state should have one authoritative owner and a version so stale copies cannot silently win.
Test degradation and recovery
Simulate unavailable dependencies, stale caches and overload. A production system needs predictable fallbacks and a clear path back to normal operation rather than manual repair for every incident.
